Why recycle cigarette butts?
Cigarette butts are one of the most polluting and abundant waste items in the world. Each one retains over 7,000 toxic substances, capable of contaminating between 8 and 50 liters of water.
In Chile, it is estimated that 32.5% of the population smokes an average of 7 cigarettes per day. Around 70% of all these cigarettes end up as waste in our environment in the form of cigarette butts.
Cigarette butts are made of a type of plastic called cellulose acetate, which we recover and transform into a new raw material for the industry: Celion®.
Together, we can clean the world of cigarette butts.
