Through science and engineering, we developed a unique technology in the world to make cigarette butts a recyclable waste.

Our mechano-chemical process, designed to be fully sustainable, allows us to remove all toxic substances contained in cigarette butts and recover the valuable cellulose acetate from which the filter is made. The recovered acetate is transformed into Celion®, a new sustainable raw material. Cigarette butts are waste with a high load of toxic components. Through our process, we ensure that these substances are effectively removed from the environment and treated safely.

  • Impurity Removal: Efficient separation of paper, tobacco, and ashes to recover cellulose acetate fiber.
  • Advanced Decontamination: Complete removal of toxic substances through a sustainable chemical process, water-free and with input recirculation.
  • Celion® Production: Conversion of purified acetate into a high-quality pellet, phthalate-free and with biodegradable additives.
